Florida men arrested for making threats in wake of mass shootings

CLEARWATER, Fla. (FOX 13) – One week after deadly shootings in Ohio and Texas, authorities arrested two Florida men for threatening to do the same.

In Clearwater, police arrested 64-year-old Wayne Rose after employees say he lost his patience, and said “If I had a gun I would shoot all of you… I’m being serious about what I just said.”

Rose was in police custody by Saturday evening, and is charged with threatening a mass shooting.

The same day, police in Winter Park and agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested 26-year-old Richard Clayton for posting a threatening message on his Facebook page.

According to FDLE the post read, “3 more days of probation left then I get my AR-15 back. Don’t go to Walmart next week.”

With the help of an anonymous tip, authorities were able to find and arrest Clayton.

Investigators from FDLE, FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and Winter Park police say that Clayton appears to believe in the white supremacist ideology and has a history of posting threats on Facebook using fake accounts.

Clayton’s arrest makes for two Walmart specific threats in Florida in the past week. CNN reports that at least eight Walmart stores have been threatened across states like Texas, Missouri, and Florida in the same time frame.

The threats follow the mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, earlier this month, that claimed over 20 lives.
